If you are just considering using vinyl decals you are joining the craze of an easy and quick way to transform a dull and flat wall into something amazing!

Because we value our reputation and your walls, we only use high quality, industry standard Oracal 638 wall art vinyl with a strong adhesive that is designed not to set on a porous surface. It is especially designed to be applied on walls.

This means our decals will stick where many others will not and are less likely to damage your walls when removed.

Our decals are machine cut and hand detailed decals – they are not regular stickers.

We remove the background by hand. This means you get a clean and crisp die cut image with no background.

Wall Vinyl will adhere to most smooth non-porous surfaces, including painted walls, glass and plastics.  Vinyl does not stick as well to unpainted timber, teflon, flat or textured paints.(please trial it first!)

Our decals are removable, but not repositionable.

Applying and removing the vinyl

As the old saying goes "slow and steady wins the race" This is very valid for applying vinyl wall decals.

Taking the time to measure out where you want your design placed and preparing the surfaces well will ensure you are happy with the end result!

When applying the vinyl art to a wall, window or any smooth surface please make sure it is free of dust and dirt by wiping the surface with a damp cloth (no commercial products please)

We recommend waiting 3-4 weeks before applying to walls that are recently painted.

To ensure the surface is suitable for the decal please use the sample provided. This also gives you a chance to get a feel for applying the vinyl to a wall.

Your vinyl arrives precut and is made up of three layers, imagine it like a sandwich.

· The top layer is the transfer tape (through which you can see the design)

· The middle layer is like the filling –this is the vinyl decal and will remain on your wall.

· The bottom layer is the backing paper (white or blue)

Step 1

Prior to applying the decal it is important that you decide where you are placing the design, once it is applied it can’t be reused or moved. Some designs come cut as one sheet and others you will need to cut around each piece and recreate the design on the wall. I like to use a spirit level with the images or word decals but remember to measure from the vinyl design not the edge of the transfer tape to ensure a perfect finish.

Step 2

On a hard surface turn the decal face down so the backing paper is on the top. Apply firm even pressure over the decal using a blunt object (like an old credit card). This is to make sure that the vinyl bonds to the transfer paper. Flip the decal over and repeat this to the top layer of the decal.

Step 3

Option a

With the backing paper facing up, hold down one corner of the transfer paper and gently peel the backing paper away from the transfer paper. If the vinyl design is staying on the backing paper use the blunt object and gently press through the backing paper so the all of the vinyl pieces transfer onto the transfer tape. With the entire decal left attached to the transfer tape you are now ready to apply it to the surface.

Option b –Great option for words or quotes

Attach your decal to the wall with a piece of masking tape on the top edge (this will act like a hinge) If you are applying a word decal you may like to cut with scissors between the words to make smaller sections each on a hinge. Flip the decal up and slowly peel off the backing paper. (The vinyl needs to be attached to the transfer tape) Carefully return the transfer tape back to the wall.

Step 4

Apply pressure using the credit card over the decal working from the inside to the outer edges of

the design. Allow the vinyl to bond to the wall for 2 -5 minutes. Gently peel back the transfer tape

using the credit card to rub over the tape as you go leaving your vinyl design on the wall.

In the event that there are air bubbles remaining after the sticker has been applied, simply puncture with a straight pin and press down with your fingers.

Step 6

Stand back and enjoy your work of art!

Don’t forget to send in a photo of your decal for a chance to win a great prize (check our blog for details http://alphabettree.blogspot.com or on facebook :The Alphabet Tree).

When is comes to removing your design from the wall the heat from a hairdryer will help soften the bond and make removal easier. Please check our website for more hints and tips!

If you are applying a design with fine or small intricate details it may need a little extra "bonding" time before removing the transfer tape or top layer. You may need to take each section slowly and rubbing back over the design to ensure the vinyl bonds to the wall well as you remove the transfer tape

As a general rule, when you remove your vinyl decor, it should leave the surface below in the same condition as before you applied the decal.   We say that  generally because we have no idea what you are applying your decal to or the condition of the surface so we cannot guarantee this or be held liable.  We do not recommend applying vinyl to painted walls where the paint is cracked, peeling or compromised. Any adhesive residue can be removed with a supermarket goo-remover product or wipe over with damp cloth.

The Blackboard vinyl may leave a slight residue if placed on a fridge door if you have applied it to one please use a commercial glue "undo" solution when you are ready to remove!
